MedFolio
Your family's medical records, organized and private.
MedFolio turns a shoebox of prescriptions, lab reports, scans and discharge summaries into a clean, date-sorted, searchable timeline — organized right on your phone. It reads each document for you, reminds you to take your medicines, and keeps everything on your device unless you choose otherwise.

What it does
Everything your paperwork needs
Capture & auto-organize
Add a prescription, lab report, scan or discharge summary and MedFolio reads it on the spot — no typing, no filing.
- Snap with the camera, pick from the gallery, or import a PDF
- On-device OCR reads both photographed and digital documents
- Category, visit date, hospital and doctor are filled in for you
- Everything is processed on your phone — nothing is uploaded to do it
A searchable timeline
Every document lands on a date-sorted timeline grouped by month, so a person’s health history reads top to bottom.
- Month-grouped, newest first, with a category chip on every card
- Full-text search finds any report by what’s written inside it
- Filter by category — prescriptions, lab tests, scans and more
- Tap any card to open the original alongside its details
Today, at a glance
A single daily view of what matters now — the doses due, reminders and notes for the active profile, in time order.
- Doses and reminders due today, sorted by time with overdue called out
- A “next up” card for the very next thing on the schedule
- An adherence summary — how many of today’s doses are taken
- Notes you’ve added for the day, editable in place
Medicine reminders that actually fire
Turn a prescription into a schedule and MedFolio reminds you at the exact time — even over the lock screen.
- Add medicines to a document and schedule their doses
- Exact-time alarms that ring over the lock screen, not a quiet peek
- Mark a dose taken or snooze it straight from the notification
- Dose history feeds the Today view’s adherence count
One app for the whole family
Keep records for everyone you look after. Switch profiles with a tap and every document is filed to the right person.
- A profile per family member, with its own timeline and reminders
- The active profile scopes the timeline, Today view and export
- Move a document to another profile whenever you need to
- A relationship and colour make each person easy to tell apart
Optional AI, in your control
Ask AI to summarize a document and suggest its details. It’s opt-in, and you review every suggestion before it’s saved.
- A one-tap summary plus suggested category, date, doctor and hospital
- Nothing is committed until you tap Save — AI never overwrites silently
- A few free scans, or add your own free Google Gemini key for unlimited
- A clear notice that a scan sends that document to Google Gemini
Encrypted backup to your own Drive
Back up to your own Google Drive, encrypted with a key that never leaves your phone — so your records survive a new device without handing them to anyone.
- The backup is encrypted on-device; Drive only ever stores ciphertext
- Your key lives in the phone’s keychain and is never uploaded
- Google — and anyone you share the folder with — can’t read the contents
- Restore onto a new phone with the same key; lose the key and there’s no back door, by design
Private by default
Local-first is the default, not a setting you have to go and find. Your documents live on your device and nowhere else.
- Documents, extracted text and metadata are stored only on your phone
- Lock the app with a PIN or fingerprint / face unlock
- The only data that ever leaves is an AI scan or a backup you start
- Not a medical device — an organizer that keeps your paperwork straight
Private by design: your documents, the text read from them and their details are stored only on your phone. The single exceptions are ones you start — running an AI scan sends that document to Google Gemini, and turning on backup uploads an encrypted copy to your own Google Drive that only your on-device key can unlock.Read the privacy policy
Questions
Good to know
Is my medical data private?
Yes. Your documents, the text extracted from them and all their details are stored only on your phone — MedFolio has no server that receives your medical data. The only times anything leaves your device are ones you start: running an optional AI scan sends that one document to Google Gemini, and turning on backup uploads an encrypted copy to your own Google Drive. Everything else stays on the device.
Does it work offline?
Yes. Capturing documents, reading them with OCR, organizing, searching, medicine reminders and PDF export all run on your device with no internet connection. Only the optional AI scan and the optional Drive backup need a network.
Is the AI feature required?
No. MedFolio is fully usable without ever running an AI scan. AI is opt-in: you choose when to run it, the app tells you it will send that document to Google Gemini, and you review any suggested details before they are saved. Nothing is auto-filled behind your back.
How does the Google Drive backup keep my records safe?
The backup is encrypted on your phone before it is uploaded, using a key that never leaves the device. Google Drive only ever stores the scrambled copy, so neither Google nor anyone you share the folder with can read the medical documents inside. Restoring on a new phone needs the same key. That also means there is no recovery path if you lose the key — which is exactly what makes a backup you can see in Drive safe. Write the key down somewhere.
How much does it cost?
MedFolio is free to organize your documents, set reminders and export PDFs. A limited number of free AI scans are included; for unlimited AI you can add your own free Google Gemini API key.
